Thu, July 10, 2008 - 4:26 PMAs you can imagine, the arrest of a suspect in Kid Village during their dinner circle with pepper spray and rubber bullets fired is a hot topic.
That being said, one of the brothers who was there will be meeting with staffers of congressional representatives on July 15 to show video of the event and review eye witness accounts with the hopes of asking Congress to hold a hearing.
To that end, if you have an eye witness statement, please email me a complete statement of what you witnessed along with your legal name, phone number and address. If you have video or still photography of the incident, I will have an ftp site setup in a day or two or email me links from You Tube.
Just a reminder family, never circle the cops. Sit down and OM!

The American Civil Liberties Union plans to investigate how federal law enforcement officers
treated members of the Rainbow Family during their annual gathering this year in western Wyoming.

Ok i just found some clips on youtube, and holy shit! This is flipping unreal. I cannot believe they actually were shooting people with those paintballs or rubber bullets, whatever they were. Sounds like someone needs to be contacting a lawyer and putting a lawsuit together. Of course this crap happens every year, but ive never seen family actually getting shot at before. Very crazy. But it looked like a beautiful spot and im sure spirits were high as usual for the 4th. Hoping ill be home next summer. Loving you all! -

These guys sound like a buncha stupid jocks with ATV's and paintball guns... I hope this is addressed. The smart thing would have been having next year's national in a hospitable place like Vermont... Sen. Patrick Leahy would be sympathetic to the hippies. After all he invited Garcia to the congressional diningroom for lunch and has called himself a Deadhead... We obviously need to be smarter and stay away from conservative places for awhile... I hope that Vision Council picks up on this.... -

NM is in the middle of the country. Not the west coast, east of the Mississippi is the eastern 2/3's. I didnt realize that the gathering was "supposed" to be held in any region of the country or pattern from gathering to gathering. You might be investing to much thought into what goes on at vision council. Wasnt last years gathering in the east? -

The gathering historically alternates between west and east every other year.
I just wish that somebody would pick a place like Vermont, North Carolina, etc... We have not had a gathering in the Northeast, Ny. Mass, RI, VT, Me, NH., since 91'...
Vermont needs to host another national...

Wed, July 30, 2008 - 2:02 PMAye, there WAS a gather in Arkansas...hmmm. And since we're on the subject: The Gaher goes where the spirit guides us. Don't like NM, take it up with the Great Spirit or sit your ass in Vision Council until you get what you want. But be warned 3 to 4 days of your constant blocking the decision will be taken as a 'private agenda'.
And this, in all honesty, shouldn'T EVEN BE in this thread. Take your personal gripes over to another thread, please. (And for my money, NM is a damn good choice. I just wanna go to VT cause I've never been.)
Back on topic, I was in KV when all this went down. I am on a couple of the videos (the most popular has my 5 sentence rant, that's me in the black hat), but the MOST important video is the one with the tagword "raw" in the title. It shows the very beginning of the incident. It shows the FS guy in a total panic from the beginning. Screaming "GET OUT OF THE TRAIL" like a frightened little girl. He's the one who shot, and shot, and shot. I lost count after 50 or so.

i was struck by your post...
and yes
it is the fear
some of them are afraid
for unknown reasons
although many of us would like to speculate
as to the origination of the fear
but,
they have been afraid from the beginning
there has never been any provocation from the campfire of peace...
they approach the light with a self proclaimed authority over it,
yet they are in total fear of it
